The course menu is a panel on the left side of the interface that contains links to tools and materials. There are several types of content and tools that may be linked in the course menu. You may also include subheaders and dividers to organize links visually.

  • Content Area. Content areas are the basic course areas that hold all course materials. Courses may contain multiple content areas.
  • Module Page. Module pages include individual modules you select, which are tools such as a calculator, a task list, and the calendar.
  • Blank Page. Blank pages allow you to directly add a file, image or text as a link on the course menu. This is recommended for critical information, as too many links in the course menu will overwhelm users.
  • Tool Link. Create a link to an available tool in your course, such as announcements or blogs. A link may also be created on the Tools page.
  • Web Link. Create a link to a web address for important resources.
  • Course Link. Create a link to an existing area, tool or item in your course.
  • Subheader. Create a line of bold, unlinked text. Subheaders allow for organization of links to allow users to find information more quickly. After you create it, the subheader can be moved to the appropriate position.
  • Divider. Create a horizontal line in the course menu. Dividers allow for organization and division of links to allow users to find information more quickly. After you create it, the divider can be moved to the appropriate position.
