Backup an eLearning Section

We strongly suggest you backup your eLearning section to save its contents and your students' activities. After backing up the section, download the backup on a local drive for safekeeping.

A how-to guide with step-by-step instructions for Backing Up Your Section (PDF, 417 KB, 5 pages) is available.

Export a Grade Book to a Spreadsheet

Please remember that eLearning is not a permanent repository for grades. We strongly suggest you archive section Grade Books after each semester.

Click the Export to Spreadsheet link at the bottom of the Grade Book screen and save the exported spreadsheet to a secure location on a local drive for safekeeping.

A how-to guide with step-by-step instructions for Using Grade Book with Microsoft Excel (PDF, 462 KB, 10 pages) is available.

Request to Retain an eLearning Section (optional)

Sections are routinely removed after the end of each term or semester. However, there may be times when you will need to allow students to access the section after the semester has ended. To prevent your section from being deleting, you must submit a request for ITS to retain your section by following the instructions below.

  1. Request an eLearning section be retained through TAMU eLearning Tools (Health Science Center users, use TAMHSC eLearning Tools).
  2. Sign in with your NetID and password.
  3. Click Section Retention and indicate the reason you would like ITS to retain the section.

Note: If you are a TA or a staff member who provides support for an instructor and you do not have access to eLearning Tools, contact us to request that a section be retained.

Save an eLearning Section As a Template (conditional)

You must save your section as a template if you designed at the section level or made changes to your section after you assigned a template and you want to keep a copy of the section content for future use.

A how-to guide with step-by-step instructions for Making Your Section a Template (PDF, 295 KB, 6 pages) is available.

Note: Make sure you return to the Template Manager, found under the Content Manager, and remove any old templates you no longer need. Removing old templates helps manage your content and minimizes space usage on the eLearning system.
